Biography

Suean Pascoe is a foundation director and co-owner of Ultrasound Training Solutions (UTS), Australia’s preeminent point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) training provider.
A passionate advocate for POCUS in Australia, in addition to developing leading edge educational programs in her day job, she is a current board member of Australia’s peak representative body – the Australasian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM). Here, among other things, she has been involved in designing and developing a qualification and certification framework for POCUS users. Other work includes having created a Competency Framework for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Australia and New Zealand with the Australian Sonographer’s Association (ASA).
Suean has convened POCUS programs for the annual scientific meetings of ASUM and the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) as well as workshops for a number of societies/colleges in Australia. In addition, with her team at UTS, Suean created Australia’s first POCUS focused conference – SonoAus – an annual event that has gained international recognition. Currently her focus is on deconstructing the skills necessary to teach the art and science of ultrasound to ensure today’s educators can meet the demands of ultrasound learners at every stage of their development.
